New Delhi: More than 100 people have been killed in India since July due to heavy rains, floods, and landslides.
According to Indian media reports, the highest number of deaths was recorded in the state of Assam, where around 90 people lost their lives. In Jharkhand, 14 people were killed due to lightning strikes.
Most of those killed in lightning incidents were reportedly agricultural workers who were working in fields at the time of the strikes.
Indian media further reported that heavy rainfall was also recorded in the capital New Delhi and the city of Mumbai. Continuous rains caused flooding in low-lying areas, submerged roads, and disrupted water drainage systems.
Thousands of people have also been displaced from their homes due to the widespread impact of torrential rains and flooding.
