Town Administration, Teachers, and Students Express Strong Solidarity with the People of Kashmir

Karachi: On the occasion of Kashmir Exploitation Day, New Karachi Town organized a dignified and peaceful solidarity rally led by Municipal Commissioner Abdul Jabbar Mahar. The rally aimed to express solidarity with the people of Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir, reaffirm support for their right to self-determination, and draw the attention of the international community to the Kashmir issue.
The rally was attended by officers and employees of New Karachi Town, teachers from municipal government schools, and a large number of students. In addition, special awareness programs and solidarity rallies were held at various municipal schools across New Karachi Town, where teachers and students participated enthusiastically to demonstrate their support for the people of Kashmir.
Participants carried banners and placards bearing messages in support of the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination and freedom, while also condemning India’s actions in the disputed territory. A one-minute silence was observed during the rally in memory of those described as the martyrs of Kashmir and to express solidarity with the affected civilian population.
Addressing the participants, Municipal Commissioner Abdul Jabbar Mahar described August 5, 2019, as “a dark chapter in the history of South Asia,” referring to India’s decision to revoke the special constitutional status of Jammu and Kashmir. He said the move had deprived the people of Kashmir of their fundamental, political, and democratic rights and had also posed serious challenges to peace and stability in the region.
He stated that the people of Kashmir had made immense sacrifices over several decades in pursuit of what he described as their right to self-determination, adding that their struggle should awaken the conscience of the international community. He said the people of Pakistan would continue to extend political, moral, and diplomatic support to the people of Kashmir.
The Municipal Commissioner also appreciated the enthusiastic participation of teachers and students from municipal schools, saying that fostering awareness about Kashmir, national unity, and patriotism among the younger generation was the need of the hour. He noted that the active participation of students reflected their solidarity with the people of Kashmir and their support for what he described as the Kashmiris’ legitimate right to self-determination.
Abdul Jabbar Mahar further said that Kashmir Exploitation Day provides an opportunity to renew the commitment to continue highlighting the Kashmir issue at every national and international forum. He urged the United Nations and the international community to fulfill their responsibilities by playing an effective role in ensuring that the people of Kashmir are granted their recognized right to self-determination in accordance with the relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions.
The rally concluded with a special prayer for the departed souls of those who lost their lives in Kashmir, for peace and freedom for the people of Jammu and Kashmir, and for Pakistan’s continued progress, stability, and prosperity.
