Dadu (By Mukhtiar Ali Jatoi): Like other parts of Pakistan, Arbaeen (Chehlum) of Imam Hussain (AS) and the martyrs of Karbala was observed in Dadu with deep religious devotion, as thousands of mourners participated in the city’s central mourning procession.
The procession began from various Imambargahs and neighborhoods before converging at the Central Imambargah in Dadu. From there, the main procession followed its traditional route through Shahi Bazaar, Main Chowk, and Kachehri Road before concluding at its designated destination.
During the procession, mourners paid tribute to Imam Hussain (AS) and the martyrs of Karbala by participating in religious rituals and paying respects to Zuljanah, ceremonial biers, and other sacred symbols associated with the tragedy of Karbala. The atmosphere remained solemn as participants recited elegies (Nohas) and performed Seena Zani (chest beating).
Religious scholars and speakers addressed the gathering, highlighting the philosophy of Karbala, the sacrifices of Imam Hussain (AS) and his companions, and the significance of Arbaeen. They emphasized the enduring values of patience, truth, justice, and steadfastness in the face of oppression.
Following the speeches, large numbers of mourners performed traditional Zanjeer Zani (self-flagellation with chains) and other mourning rituals to pay tribute to Imam Hussain (AS) and his loyal companions.
District authorities and police implemented comprehensive security measures for the event. Security personnel were deployed along the procession route, while arrangements were also made to ensure smooth traffic management and provide medical assistance to participants throughout the observance.
