The freight train service scheduled to commence today between Islamabad, Tehran, and Istanbul has been postponed due to the non-availability of security clearance.
According to railway officials, Pakistan Railways had earlier announced that the Islamabad–Tehran–Istanbul freight train service would begin from 31 December. The train was planned to depart from Islamabad and travel via Sibi to Spezand Junction, from where it was to proceed through Noshki and Dalbandin before entering Iran at Mirjawa.
Officials of the Railway Department in Quetta had completed all necessary preparations in the Quetta Division in anticipation of the train’s arrival and onward movement.
However, just one day before the scheduled departure, Pakistan Railways decided to defer the launch of the freight train service after failing to obtain the required security clearance.
