Saudi Arabia has introduced mandatory Nusuk food vouchers worth around 20 Saudi Riyals per day for Umrah pilgrims from Pakistan and three other countries.
The new policy will apply from 1st Rabi-ul-Awwal for pilgrims from Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, and Egypt.
Under the new system, hotel bookings, transportation, food, and other facilities for Umrah pilgrims are being connected through a single digital platform. Around 10,000 restaurants in Makkah and Madinah have been linked with the Nusuk app.
Each Umrah pilgrim will receive a unique code connected to their visa, which will allow them to get meals from approved locations.
According to reports, the purpose of this initiative is to provide pilgrims with better and organized food services, discourage unregistered services, and improve overall Umrah arrangements.
The new policy is expected to increase the overall cost of Umrah packages. Travel agents in Pakistan and other countries are reviewing their packages and prices due to the new requirements.
