Islamabad: Opposition Leader in the Senate Raja Nasir Abbas has said that the opposition is ready for negotiations, but the government is not showing seriousness.
Speaking to Geo News, Raja Nasir Abbas said that the opposition has always supported dialogue and political contacts to resolve issues. He said that Mahmood Khan Achakzai had suggested meeting in the Parliament’s Constitution Room and even offered to meet at Rana Sanaullah’s residence, but the government was not serious about political talks.
He said the government does not want meaningful political dialogue to solve national issues. Raja Nasir Abbas added that the opposition is ready to meet the Prime Minister and the government delegation for purposeful negotiations, and the government should take the first step.
He also said that he is currently in Iraq for Arbaeen, but if talks are held tomorrow, he can return to Pakistan today.
Meanwhile, Tehreek Tahaffuz-e-Aain Pakistan spokesperson Akhunzada Hussain Yousafzai said that if the government was serious about negotiations, it would not have registered terrorism cases against opposition members.
He said a positive environment is necessary for talks, but the government is creating difficulties. He added that if the government wanted negotiations, it would have allowed meetings between opposition leaders and their party members at Adiala Jail.
