Sukkur: Members of the Bhatti community staged a protest outside the Sukkur Press Club, alleging the kidnapping of a nine-year-old girl and demanding her immediate recovery. The demonstrators also appealed to authorities to investigate claims that a ransom had been demanded for the child’s release.
The protest was attended by men and women from the Bhatti community, including Rukhsana Bhatti, Alam Khatoon, Ghulam Nabi, and several others. Carrying placards and raising slogans, the protesters urged law enforcement agencies and senior government officials to take swift action to ensure the safe return of the child and provide justice to the affected family.
Speaking to the media during the demonstration, the protesters alleged that Manzoor Bhatti, the brother-in-law of Rukhsana Bhatti, along with his wife Meena Saleem Bhatti, Haji Shah Muhammad, and Liaquat Kamboh, were involved in the alleged kidnapping. They claimed that the accused were part of an organized group allegedly involved in abducting young girls and demanding ransom from their families.
The protesters further alleged that if ransom was not paid, the victims were reportedly sold elsewhere. These allegations have not been independently verified, and no official confirmation has been issued by law enforcement authorities regarding the claims.
Rukhsana Bhatti told reporters that her nine-year-old daughter, Alishah, had allegedly been kidnapped and that the family had been asked to pay Rs2 million for her release. She said her husband works in Saudi Arabia, while she is struggling financially and has no means of arranging such a large amount of money.
According to Rukhsana, the family has been living under constant fear since the alleged incident. She claimed that the accused had been issuing threats, warning them of serious consequences if the ransom was not paid. She also alleged that both she and her daughter had been threatened with death, leaving the entire family deeply distressed and concerned for their safety.
The demonstrators appealed to the Chief Justice of Pakistan, the Chief Minister of Punjab, the District Police Officer (DPO) Rahim Yar Khan, and other senior officials of relevant law enforcement agencies to take immediate notice of the matter.
They demanded the safe recovery of the missing girl, a transparent and impartial investigation into the allegations, strict legal action against anyone found responsible, and adequate security for the affected family.
The protesters stressed that justice should be delivered without delay and urged authorities to ensure that the child’s whereabouts are determined as soon as possible. They emphasized that families affected by such incidents deserve protection and prompt action from the state.
As of the time of reporting, no official statement had been issued by the police or other authorities confirming the allegations or announcing any arrests in connection with the case. The claims presented during the protest remain allegations made by the family and protesters, and the matter is expected to be examined by the relevant authorities.
