SUKKUR: Sukkur Police have finalized a comprehensive security plan for the observance of Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) to address potential security threats across the district.
According to a police statement issued on the directives of SSP Sukkur Azhar Khan, more than 1,475 police officers and personnel, including over 50 female police officers, will be deployed to ensure the safety of mourners. Female officers will be responsible for the security screening of women participants.
The security plan covers 16 mourning processions and 27 Majalis across the district. Of the processions, two have been classified as highly sensitive and 14 as normal, while one Majlis has been declared sensitive and 26 have been placed in the normal category.
Additionally, 340 police officers, including 26 female personnel, have been assigned to provide security for the Arbaeen Walk in Sukkur and Rohri.
Walk-through gates, metal detectors, and barbed-wire barriers have been installed at entry and exit points of Imambargahs, processions, and Majalis venues. Participants will be allowed entry only after thorough security checks.
Police commandos will be deployed on rooftops along the main procession routes, while CCTV cameras and plainclothes officers will monitor activities to enhance security.
A special control room has also been established at the SSP Office Sukkur to monitor the security arrangements.
SSP Azhar Khan directed all SDPOs, SHOs, and other officers to ensure strict implementation of the security plan, warning that negligence or dereliction of duty during security operations will not be tolerated and disciplinary action will be taken against those found responsible.
