Dubai: The UAE National Center of Meteorology (NCM) has forecast a new wave of extreme heat across the Middle East, warning that temperatures could approach 50°C in the coming days.
According to the meteorological authority, the intense heat is expected to affect several countries in the region, with Iraq, Kuwait, eastern Saudi Arabia, and the desert areas of the United Arab Emirates likely to experience the highest temperatures.
The NCM said temperatures may rise to around 50°C over the next few days. It also noted that Al Shawamekh in Abu Dhabi has already recorded temperatures exceeding 50°C.
In Kuwait, temperatures are forecast to reach 48°C, while hot and dry conditions are expected to persist across much of the Gulf region.
Despite the heatwave, the weather department said there is a possibility of rain until Thursday in parts of the UAE, including Fujairah and some eastern and southern regions.
Authorities have also issued an alert for strong winds and dusty conditions, which may reduce visibility and affect outdoor activities.
Residents have been advised to take precautions against extreme heat, stay hydrated, avoid prolonged exposure to the sun during peak hours, and follow official weather updates as conditions develop.
