ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has claimed that it has secured a simple majority in the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Legislative Assembly, paving the way for the party to form the next government.

Addressing a joint press conference with Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan Amir Muqam, Prime Minister’s Adviser Rana Sanaullah said the party had won enough seats to establish a government based on the public mandate.

Rana Sanaullah congratulated the successful candidates and thanked the people of Azad Kashmir for their support, saying the election results reflected confidence in the leadership and vision of PML-N President Nawaz Sharif.

He maintained that the elections were conducted in a transparent manner and stated that the people had voted in favor of the party’s development agenda.

According to Rana Sanaullah, PML-N has won 23 out of the 45 seats in the Azad Kashmir Legislative Assembly, giving it a simple majority required to form the government.

He said the incoming government would work to address public issues and fulfill the commitments made to the people during the election campaign.

Federal Minister Amir Muqam also thanked voters for their support and expressed confidence that the new administration would focus on development, public welfare, and improved governance in Azad Kashmir.

The Election Commission is expected to issue the final official notification of results after completing the electoral process. Meanwhile, opposition parties have raised objections in some constituencies and called for investigations into alleged irregularities. Those claims are being addressed through the relevant legal and electoral mechanisms.
