SUKKUR: The Sukkur Electric Power Company (SEPCO) Sub-Division One carried out an operation against electricity theft and defaulting consumers in various parts of the city, disconnecting illegal connections and removing supply to consumers with outstanding dues.
According to SEPCO officials, the operation was conducted on the directives of the SEPCO Chief, Superintending Engineer (SE), Executive Engineer (XEN) Sukkur, and SDO Ramzan Malik. The campaign was supervised by Line Superintendent (LS) Ibrahim Dhar.
During the operation, teams visited Ayub Gate, the area behind Abbasi Hotel, and other localities within the sub-division’s jurisdiction.
SEPCO officials said several illegal “kundas” (hook connections) used for electricity theft were disconnected. The teams also imposed penalties on those allegedly involved in power theft.
In addition, thousands of meters of illegal electricity wires were confiscated and destroyed during the operation.
The teams also disconnected electricity supply to defaulting consumers who had failed to pay outstanding electricity bills and instructed them to clear their dues immediately to restore service.
Speaking on the occasion, SEPCO officials said the operation was carried out under the instructions of senior management and reaffirmed the company’s commitment to eliminating electricity theft.
They added that anti-power theft campaigns would continue across the region and warned that no one would be allowed to use electricity through illegal means.
The operation forms part of SEPCO’s ongoing efforts to reduce electricity losses, improve bill recovery, and ensure a fair and reliable power supply for paying consumers.
