Sukkur:
The historic international marathon titled “Lok Sahaita Marathon 2025 – The Hope Run” kicked off early in the morning in Sukkur with great enthusiasm. The marathon began from IBA Public School under strict security and excellent coordination.
The full marathon covered a total distance of 42.195 kilometers, while a 10-kilometer run was organized specifically for women. The event featured more than 28 international athletes from 15 countries, including Kenya, Italy, Ethiopia, Morocco, Japan, Uganda, and the United Kingdom. In addition, over 3,000 participants, both men and women from various cities of Pakistan, took part alongside international runners.
Prominent officials present at the event included Chairman Lok Sahaita Marathon DIG Pir Muhammad Shah, Commissioner Sukkur Division Abid Saleem Qureshi, Mayor Sukkur Arslan Islam Sheikh, Secretary Universities and Boards Muhammad Abbas Baloch, Vice Chancellor Shah Abdul Latif University Dr. Muhammad Yousuf Khushk, Deputy Commissioner Nadir Shehzad Khan, ASP Saib Amin, Chairman Sukkur Board Dr. Zahid Chandar, and Agha Haroon.
Strict security measures and well-organized arrangements ensured a safe and successful event, creating a vibrant atmosphere and enthusiasm among the citizens of Sukkur and sports lovers. International athletes and Pakistani participants showcased world-class performance while running through various routes of the city. The women’s runs received special interest and encouragement.
The marathon is expected to become a historic milestone, not only in promoting sports in Sukkur but also in strengthening international relations and national unity.
