KARACHI, Aug. 1, 2026: The Sindh High Court has taken a significant disciplinary action against corruption within the judiciary by ordering the compulsory retirement of Senior Civil Judge Ayaz Ali Kanasro after an official inquiry found corruption and misconduct charges against him to be proven.
According to the Inspection Team of the Sindh High Court, Chief Justice Zafar Rajput issued the order after reviewing the inquiry report, conducting the final hearing, and examining all available evidence and relevant facts.
The inquiry concluded that allegations of corruption and misconduct against the senior civil judge had been substantiated. The investigation was carried out by Justice Shamsuddin Abbasi, who served as the inquiry officer and conducted a detailed examination of the case.
Following the completion of the investigation, the competent authority recommended the judge’s dismissal from service based on the findings of the inquiry.
However, after ensuring that all legal requirements and procedural formalities had been fulfilled, and after providing both sides an opportunity to present their positions, the Chief Justice decided to impose the penalty of compulsory retirement instead of dismissal.
According to the official order, the decision takes effect immediately.
The action is being viewed as part of the Sindh High Court’s broader efforts to uphold judicial integrity, accountability, and transparency within the subordinate judiciary.
The court has not released further details regarding the specific allegations or evidence presented during the inquiry. However, officials confirmed that the disciplinary proceedings were conducted in accordance with the applicable legal framework governing judicial accountability.
The compulsory retirement order is now in force, bringing the judge’s judicial service to an end with immediate effect.
