SKARDU: Climbing expeditions attempting to summit K2 have been postponed following an accident on Broad Peak, prompting mountaineering teams to suspend their plans.
Several climbers on K2 were scheduled to begin their final ascent toward the summit on Saturday night. However, after the incident on neighboring Broad Peak, all teams currently on K2 decided to halt their summit attempts.
According to reports, climbers are now returning to the K2 Base Camp as a precaution following the accident.
Further details regarding the Broad Peak incident have not yet been officially released, and expedition organizers are monitoring the situation before deciding when summit attempts on K2 can safely resume.
The postponement underscores the challenging and unpredictable conditions faced by mountaineering teams in Pakistan’s Karakoram range during the climbing season.
