Sukkur:
Press Release
Dated: 15 December 2025
On the directives of Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Sukkur, Azhar Khan, comprehensive and strict security arrangements have been put in place across the district to ensure the smooth and safe conduct of the polio vaccination campaign from 15 December to 21 December 2025.
According to Sukkur Police, the polio campaign is being carried out under enhanced security measures, recognizing the sensitivity and national importance of the anti-polio drive. SSP Azhar Khan has issued clear instructions to all concerned officers to perform their duties with full responsibility, vigilance, and commitment throughout the campaign period.
As part of the security plan, approximately 1,390 police officers and personnel, including 25 female police officers, have been deployed across the district. These officers are performing security duties under the direct supervision of SDPOs and SHOs in their respective areas to ensure maximum coordination and rapid response in case of any untoward incident.
The SSP Sukkur emphasized that the deployment of female police officers is particularly important to facilitate smooth interaction with communities and to ensure the safety of female polio workers during door-to-door vaccination activities. Their presence also helps in building trust with families and supporting vaccination teams during field operations.
During the ongoing polio campaign, a total of 35 transit points have been established at key locations across the district. These transit points are aimed at vaccinating children on the move, including those traveling with their families at bus stops, railway stations, entry and exit points of the city, and other busy areas. In addition to this, 1,148 mobile polio teams are actively participating in the campaign, covering urban as well as rural localities of Sukkur district.
All polio teams are operating in the field under a strict police security cordon and are safely performing their assigned duties. The Sukkur Police has ensured that every mobile polio team is accompanied by security personnel to prevent any potential threats and to maintain law and order during vaccination activities.
To further strengthen security for mobile polio teams, SSP Sukkur has strictly directed all concerned SDPOs and SHOs to remain in continuous contact with the teams operating in their jurisdictions. They have been instructed to closely monitor the movement of teams, provide immediate assistance in case of any difficulty, and take prompt action against any form of obstruction, resistance, or suspicious activity.
SSP Azhar Khan has clearly stated that any negligence, carelessness, or lapse in duty during the polio campaign will be considered unacceptable. He warned that strict departmental action will be taken against officers or personnel found negligent in performing their responsibilities. “The success of the anti-polio campaign depends not only on health workers but also on the dedication and professionalism of the police force,” he said.
Highlighting the importance of the campaign, the SSP described the anti-polio drive as a crucial national responsibility, adding that the role of the police force is of utmost significance in ensuring its success. He stressed that providing a safe and secure environment for polio workers is a shared duty, as these workers are contributing directly to safeguarding the future of children and the health of the nation.
SSP Sukkur further issued detailed instructions to all deployed officers to remain alert during duty hours, ensure the safety of polio teams at all points, and keep a strict watch on suspicious individuals and activities. He emphasized that security personnel must stay with the polio teams until the completion of their assigned tasks and until the official conclusion of the polio campaign.
The Sukkur Police has reaffirmed its full commitment to supporting national efforts aimed at the eradication of polio. Through coordinated planning, continuous monitoring, and strict security measures, the police force aims to ensure that the polio vaccination campaign is conducted peacefully, efficiently, and without any disruption.
At the conclusion of the statement, the Spokesperson of Sukkur Police reiterated that the police department stands shoulder to shoulder with health authorities in the fight against polio and will continue to play its role until the disease is completely eradicated from the country.
