HYDERABAD The District Bar Association Hyderabad organized a one-day awareness seminar on heart disease prevention and the harmful effects of smoking, highlighting the importance of adopting a healthy lifestyle and discouraging tobacco use, particularly among young people.
Addressing the seminar, renowned cardiologist Dr. Shaukat Memon said cardiovascular diseases remain among the leading causes of death worldwide. However, he noted that many heart-related illnesses can be prevented by maintaining a balanced diet, engaging in regular physical activity, managing stress, controlling blood pressure and diabetes, and completely avoiding tobacco use.
Dr. Memon emphasized that smoking not only damages the heart but also severely affects the lungs and other vital organs. He stressed that raising awareness among the younger generation about the dangers of smoking has become an urgent social responsibility.
He called on educational institutions, legal professionals, healthcare organizations, and civil society to work together in promoting healthy lifestyles and reducing tobacco consumption through awareness campaigns.
The seminar was attended by District Bar Association Hyderabad President Ashar Majeed Khokhar Advocate, former High Court Bar Association President Ishrat Ali Lohar Advocate, District Bar Association Joint Secretary Tanveer Ahmed Junejo Advocate, Javed Iqbal, Mahmood Qaimkhani Advocate, Babar Raja Khan, Kamran Hashmi, representatives of Kohsar Hospital, and a large number of lawyers and distinguished guests.
At the conclusion of the event, the District Bar Association Hyderabad presented a Certificate of Appreciation to Health Focal Person Muhammad Ayub Sheikh in recognition of his outstanding services and contributions to public health awareness.
The organizers reiterated their commitment to conducting similar awareness programs in the future to promote preventive healthcare and encourage healthier lifestyles within the community.
