RAWALPINDI: Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir has said that the friendship between Pakistan and China is time-tested and has remained strong through every challenge, reaffirming the strategic partnership between the two countries.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), a ceremony marking the 99th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) was held at the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi.
The event was attended by Major General Wang Zhong, China’s Defence Attaché, officials from the Chinese Embassy, and senior officers from Pakistan’s Army, Navy, and Air Force.
Field Marshal Asim Munir welcomed the distinguished guests and extended congratulations to the People’s Liberation Army on its 99th founding anniversary. He praised the PLA’s contributions to China’s national defence, economic development, and global peace and security.
Addressing the ceremony, the field marshal said that Pakistan-China friendship has consistently stood the test of time and has remained resilient despite changing regional and international challenges.
He added that the armed forces of Pakistan and the PLA are true strategic partners, working together to promote regional peace, stability, and the protection of shared strategic interests.
The ISPR said the event reflected the longstanding defence cooperation between the two countries and underscored their commitment to strengthening military-to-military ties.
During the ceremony, Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidong thanked Field Marshal Asim Munir for hosting the event and appreciated the sacrifices and contributions made by Pakistan’s armed forces in the fight against terrorism.
According to the ISPR, the ambassador also reaffirmed China’s unwavering support for Pakistan and expressed his country’s commitment to further strengthening the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between the two nations.
Pakistan and China maintain close diplomatic, economic, and defence relations, with both countries regularly emphasizing cooperation in areas including regional security, counterterrorism, infrastructure development, and strategic coordination.
