PESHAWAR: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has initiated contacts with Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) to explore the possibility of launching a joint political movement against the federal government, according to party sources.
Sources said PTI leaders met senior JUI-F figures and proposed coordinated protests against the federal government as part of efforts to build a broader opposition alliance.
According to PTI sources, JUI-F has not yet endorsed the proposal for joint demonstrations. The party reportedly maintains that mutual trust between the two political parties must first be fully restored before any coordinated protest campaign can be considered.
The discussions also reportedly included the possibility of developing a joint electoral strategy for future elections, although no formal agreement has been announced.
Speaking to Geo News, PTI Khyber Pakhtunkhwa spokesperson Shaukat Yousafzai confirmed that meetings had taken place with JUI-F leaders.
He said direct meetings had already been held with Maulana Fazlur Rehman, the head of JUI-F, adding that both parties share a common understanding on the need for an effective movement against the federal government.
According to Yousafzai, the two parties have moved closer to consensus on several political issues and continue to engage in discussions.
Neither PTI nor JUI-F has officially announced any joint protest schedule or formal alliance. Political observers note that any future cooperation between the two opposition parties will likely depend on the outcome of ongoing negotiations and their ability to build confidence on key political matters.
