ISLAMABAD: The Federal Ministry of National Health Services has handed over the management of the Islamabad Infectious Diseases Hospital and the Regional Blood Centre to the Indus Hospital & Health Network under two newly signed agreements.
Speaking at the signing ceremony in Islamabad, Federal Minister for National Health Services Mustafa Kamal described the occasion as an important milestone for Pakistan’s healthcare sector.
He said two agreements had been signed between the Ministry of Health and the Indus Hospital & Health Network, under which the management of both healthcare institutions would now be entrusted to the organization.
According to the minister, the federal government has formally approved the transfer of management responsibilities for the two facilities.
Mustafa Kamal noted that the Islamabad Infectious Diseases Hospital was constructed with the support of China, while the Regional Blood Centre was established with assistance from Germany and equipped with modern medical facilities.
He said the government followed a transparent process in awarding the management contracts, adding that all legal requirements and Public Procurement Regulatory Authority (PPRA) rules were observed. An independent consultant was appointed for the process, and the Indus Hospital & Health Network participated in the competitive selection procedure.
The minister added that the government had also succeeded in reducing costs during the procurement process.
“Our objective is not merely to operate buildings but to provide the public with quality, effective, and sustainable healthcare services,” Mustafa Kamal said.
He emphasized that the government aims to establish a durable healthcare management system that will continue to function efficiently regardless of future political changes.
Expressing confidence in the new arrangement, the federal health minister said the two institutions would deliver healthcare services that surpass existing standards while ensuring long-term sustainability for the benefit of patients.
The Indus Hospital & Health Network is one of Pakistan’s leading not-for-profit healthcare organizations, operating hospitals and medical facilities across the country. The transfer is expected to strengthen the management and service delivery of the two federally funded institutions.
