According to sources, the 20 participating teams have been divided into four groups. Following the same format as previous editions, the top two teams from each group will qualify for the Super Eight stage. In the Super Eight stage, the eight teams will be split into two groups, with the top two teams from each group advancing to the semi-finals.
In a high-profile grouping, Pakistan and India have been drawn together along with the United States, Namibia, and the Netherlands. The much-anticipated Pakistan-India clash is scheduled for February 15 in Colombo.
The other groups have been outlined as follows:
- Group 2: Sri Lanka, Australia, Zimbabwe, Ireland, Oman
- Group 3: England, West Indies, Bangladesh, Nepal, Italy
- Group 4: South Africa, New Zealand, Afghanistan, UAE, Canada
Pakistan will play all its matches in Sri Lanka, with key matches including the high-profile encounter against India in Colombo. Meanwhile, matches in India will take place in Kolkata, Chennai, Delhi, and Ahmedabad. Ahmedabad has been designated as the venue for the final; however, if Pakistan reaches the final, it will be held in Colombo.
Similarly, the semi-finals are scheduled to be held in Mumbai and Kolkata, but if Pakistan qualifies, the semi-final will be played in Colombo.
