Pakistan has strongly reiterated its support for Palestinian self-determination and the establishment of a free and independent Palestinian state, calling for the immediate withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza and the end of Israeli occupation across all Arab territories. The statement came from Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Asim Iftikhar, during a briefing to the UN Security Council.

Ambassador Iftikhar highlighted the ongoing violations of the ceasefire agreement in Gaza, reporting that over 300 Palestinians have been killed since the announcement of the truce. He noted that houses in Gaza continue to be destroyed, residents are living in fear, and the humanitarian crisis remains acute. According to the Pakistani envoy, Israeli attacks persist despite the ceasefire, with four additional Palestinians reported killed in recent incidents. In response, aid organizations in Gaza have announced temporary suspensions of their operations due to security concerns.

Emphasizing the importance of international law, Pakistan urged the Security Council to ensure full implementation of Resolution 2803, which calls for the protection of civilians and an immediate cessation of hostilities. Ambassador Iftikhar stressed that the ceasefire must be strictly enforced and that urgent steps are needed to restore peace and security in the region.

Pakistan also called for the uninterrupted provision of humanitarian aid to Gaza, particularly in view of the approaching winter, to protect civilians and alleviate their suffering. The envoy highlighted the necessity of large-scale relief operations and immediate reconstruction efforts to rehabilitate homes and infrastructure damaged during Israeli operations. He further underscored that any form of annexation or forced displacement in the region is unacceptable under international law.

Ambassador Iftikhar emphasized Pakistan’s firm stance in standing with the Palestinian people in their struggle for an independent state. He underscored that a sovereign Palestinian state should be established with Jerusalem (Al-Quds) as its capital, and that all Israeli occupations in Arab territories must come to an end.

The Pakistani representative condemned the Israeli military operations in the strongest terms, calling for immediate measures to protect civilians and restore normalcy. He urged the UN Security Council to take decisive action to uphold international resolutions and ensure that Palestinian rights are fully respected.

Pakistan’s position reflects its longstanding commitment to international law, human rights, and regional stability. Ambassador Iftikhar’s address to the Security Council emphasized that peace in the Middle East can only be achieved through the creation of a fully sovereign Palestinian state, the cessation of Israeli aggression, and the protection of the rights of civilians in Gaza and across occupied territories.

The statement reaffirmed Pakistan’s support for a political solution based on justice, equality, and the recognition of the Palestinian people’s legitimate rights, calling on the international community to act urgently to prevent further loss of life and destruction.

In conclusion, Pakistan urged immediate international intervention to ensure that the ceasefire is respected, humanitarian assistance reaches those in need without delay, and reconstruction efforts commence to restore the lives of Palestinians affected by ongoing hostilities. The nation reiterated that it will continue to stand with Palestine in all efforts to achieve lasting peace and an independent state with Jerusalem as its capital.
