Bannu In a significant development, the police have confirmed that all terrorist attacks in the Bannu region over the past three months have been successfully foiled. According to the official report released by the police, counter-terrorism operations carried out from August 28, 2025, to the present have prevented multiple attempts by militants to destabilize law and order in the area.
The report highlights that terrorists in the region made multiple attempts to target police stations and checkpoints, but thanks to robust security measures and proactive intelligence, all attacks were neutralized. During the three-month period, extremists attempted ten major attacks on police installations, along with over 130 drone-based assaults, all of which were effectively thwarted.
The counter-terrorism operations were conducted under the direct supervision of Regional Police Officer (RPO) Bannu, Sajad Khan, who coordinated with local police, intelligence agencies, and security forces to ensure rapid response and maximum effectiveness.
In a statement to the media, RPO Sajad Khan emphasized that certain areas in Bannu remain strongholds for terrorist groups. “Extremists have repeatedly targeted police checkpoints and stations in the region, but thanks to the resources and modern equipment provided by the Inspector General of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, we have successfully neutralized these threats,” he said.
According to the report, over the past week, counter-terrorism operations resulted in the elimination of 14 high-profile terrorists and left 22 extremists injured. “The support of local communities has been invaluable in identifying militant hideouts and assisting the police in intelligence-gathering,” RPO Sajad Khan noted.
The police have further enhanced security at vulnerable locations by installing bulletproof gates and a double-wall system at various police stations across the Bannu region. These measures, combined with modern surveillance and rapid response capabilities, have significantly reduced the operational capacity of extremist groups.
RPO Sajad Khan elaborated on the role of advanced equipment in neutralizing attacks. “The region has been provided with modern weaponry and counter-drone technology. This has allowed us to prevent both conventional and drone-based attacks before they could cause harm to civilians or law enforcement personnel,” he said.
The report underscores that terrorist threats in Bannu are ongoing, but persistent police vigilance, combined with modern technology and community cooperation, has created a secure environment where extremist activities can be effectively controlled. “Our primary objective is to ensure public safety while dismantling terrorist networks and preventing their operational resurgence,” the RPO added.
Local residents have praised the police for their professionalism and proactive measures. Community leaders acknowledged that public cooperation played a critical role in the success of counter-terrorism operations, from providing timely information about militant movements to supporting law enforcement in operational logistics.
Security analysts note that the Bannu region’s strategic location has historically made it vulnerable to militant activity.
