A tragic accident in Saudi Arabia has raised fears of massive casualties after a bus carrying Indian Umrah pilgrims collided with an oil tanker near Madinah early Monday morning.
According to Arab media, the pilgrims—who had traveled from India to perform Umrah—were on their way from Makkah to Madinah when their bus crashed into an oil tanker. The collision triggered a massive fire that engulfed both vehicles.
Passengers from Telangana’s Hyderabad Among Victims
Reports indicate that 42 passengers were on board the bus, including women and children. All the pilgrims were from Hyderabad, located in the Indian state of Telangana.
The intense fire sparked by the fuel tanker has raised fears of a high death toll. Arab media outlets have reported the likelihood of multiple fatalities, while Saudi rescue teams are currently conducting emergency operations at the site.
Conflicting Death Toll Figures
In India, prominent politician Asaduddin Owaisi stated during a press briefing that 41 pilgrims are believed to have died in the tragic crash. However, Saudi authorities have yet to release an official statement confirming the exact number of casualties.
