Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has responded to allegations of election rigging against the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) in the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) elections, criticising the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and dismissing its claims.
In a statement posted on social media, Maryam Nawaz reacted to criticism from PPP leaders by saying that it was ironic for the party to accuse others of electoral manipulation.
Referring to the allegations, she wrote that the PPP, which she described as the “mastermind of sophisticated election manipulation,” was now complaining about rigging.
Maryam Nawaz concluded her post with a sarcastic remark, writing, “What time is Doomsday?”, implying that the situation was highly ironic.
Her comments came after PPP leaders accused the PML-N of influencing the outcome of the AJK elections through electoral irregularities. The exchange reflects the growing political tensions between the two parties following the announcement of election results.
The Pakistan Peoples Party has maintained its allegations of rigging and criticised the conduct of the polls, while the PML-N has rejected the accusations and defended the transparency of the electoral process.
