MUZAFFARABAD: Vote counting is under way following polling in 13 constituencies of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Legislative Assembly, with early unofficial and unconfirmed results indicating a close contest between the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP).
Polling was held in constituencies across Mirpur, Kotli, and Bhimber, and preliminary results from a number of polling stations have started to emerge.
LA-1 Mirpur-I
With results from 17 of 139 polling stations, PML-N candidate Azhar Sadiq is leading with 1,692 votes, while PPP candidate Muhammad Afser Shahid has secured 1,482 votes.
LA-2 Mirpur-II
According to results from 34 of 149 polling stations, PPP’s Qasim Majeed is ahead with 3,103 votes, followed by PML-N’s Azeem Bakhsh Chaudhry with 2,409 votes.
LA-3 Mirpur-III
With 11 of 161 polling stations counted, PML-N candidate Chaudhry Muhammad Saeed is leading with 1,766 votes, while PPP’s Chaudhry Yasir Sultan has received 1,021 votes.
LA-4 Mirpur-IV
Results from 2 of 162 polling stations show PML-N’s Chaudhry Rukhsar Ahmed in the lead with 327 votes, followed by PPP candidate Chaudhry Sohaib Arshad with 223 votes.
LA-5 Bhimber-I
After counting votes from 15 of 176 polling stations, PPP’s Chaudhry Pervez Ashraf is leading with 2,310 votes, while PML-N’s Waqar Ahmed Noor has 1,767 votes.
LA-6 Bhimber-II
Unofficial results from 6 of 195 polling stations place Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP) candidate Ali Shan Chaudhry in the lead with 1,313 votes, followed by PML-N’s Chaudhry Muhammad Razaq with 585 votes.
LA-7 Bhimber-III
With 24 of 237 polling stations reporting, PML-N’s Chaudhry Tariq Farooq is leading with 4,614 votes, while independent candidate Chaudhry Anwar-ul-Haq has secured 2,295 votes.
LA-8 Kotli-I
According to results from 9 of 155 polling stations, PPP candidate Zafar Iqbal Malik is ahead with 1,011 votes, while PML-N’s Malik Muhammad Nawaz Khan has 935 votes.
LA-9 Kotli-II
Results from 1 of 178 polling stations show PML-N’s Umair Naeem leading with 534 votes, while PPP candidate Javed Iqbal Budhanvi has 25 votes.
LA-11 Kotli-IV
With 2 of 206 polling stations counted, PPP’s Chaudhry Muhammad Akhlaq is leading with 254 votes, followed by PML-N’s Muhammad Asif with 148 votes.
LA-13 Kotli-VI
After results from 67 of 193 polling stations, PML-N candidate Raja Ayaz Ahmed Khan is leading with 10,389 votes, while PPP’s Muhammad Waleed Inqalabi has secured 8,785 votes.
The results remain unofficial and unconfirmed, and the final outcome in all constituencies will be announced by the Election Commission of Azad Jammu and Kashmir after the completion of vote counting and official consolidation of results.
