Hyderabad : Senior journalist Muhammad Ibrahim Khilji, a resident of Sanghar, held a press conference at the Pakistan Press Club (Registered Islamabad), Hyderabad District Branch, alleging that a man identified as Rehman Afghani has illegally occupied his privately owned house located in Noorani Basti.
Khilji stated that for the past four years he has been seeking justice by approaching various government departments, police stations, the SSP Hyderabad Office, the district administration, and other relevant authorities. Despite submitting numerous applications, documentary evidence, and complaints, he said he has received no relief and has only faced repeated delays and disappointment. He alleged that neither has his property been restored nor has the main accused, Rehman Afghani, been arrested, leaving him under severe mental stress, financial hardship, and insecurity.
He further alleged that the accused also orchestrated an attempt on his life in an effort to eliminate him. Khilji said that by the grace of Almighty Allah he survived the attack, but one of his legs was seriously injured, causing permanent physical harm. He demanded a transparent, impartial, and merit-based investigation into the incident and strict legal action against those responsible.
Muhammad Ibrahim Khilji also alleged that Rehman Afghani is residing in Pakistan using forged identity and official documents and is involved in the illegal occupation of people’s properties. He urged the relevant authorities to thoroughly investigate these allegations and take legal action if any individual is found to be residing unlawfully or using forged documents.
Khilji stated that despite filing repeated complaints over the last four years, he has received no meaningful cooperation from Hyderabad Police, the district administration, or other concerned authorities. He said this has seriously undermined his confidence in the law enforcement system. He added that if a senior journalist cannot obtain justice, the plight of an ordinary citizen can easily be imagined.
He appealed to the Government of Pakistan, the Ministry of Interior, NADRA, the Chief Secretary of Sindh, the Inspector General of Police Sindh, the DIG Hyderabad, the SSP Hyderabad, the district administration, and other relevant institutions to immediately restore his property, initiate legal proceedings against the alleged land-grabbing group, conduct a transparent investigation into the attempted murder case, provide security for him and his family, and ensure justice in the case that has remained unresolved for the past four years.
Concluding the press conference, Muhammad Ibrahim Khilji said that if justice is not provided, he will continue his struggle through constitutional and legal means. He expressed hope that the concerned authorities would take serious notice of his allegations and proceed in accordance with the law to ensure justice.
