HYDERABAD, July 27: Hyderabad Police arrested nine suspects, including a woman, during a series of operations against criminal elements, drug traffickers, and suppliers of Mainpuri and Gutka, officials said on Sunday.
The operations were carried out on the directives of DIG Hyderabad Range Tariq Razaq Khan Dharijo and SSP Hyderabad Shahzeb Chachar as part of an ongoing campaign against crime.
Hosri Police Station
SHO Inspector Liaquat Ali Qambar, along with his team, conducted multiple raids based on intelligence reports.
In the first operation, police arrested Imtiaz Panhwar and Sultan Abro, alleged suppliers of Mainpuri. Officers recovered 500 ready-made Mainpuri packets from their possession. A case (Crime No. 303/2026) was registered under Section 8 of the Gutka and Mainpuri Act.
In another raid, police arrested Haji Muhammad Baloch and recovered 160 grams of hashish (charas). A case (Crime No. 304/2026) was registered under Section 9(1)3(A) of the Narcotics Act.
During a third operation, police arrested Farhan Ansari, described as a notorious suspect, and seized 10 litres of locally brewed liquor. A case (Crime No. 305/2026) was registered under Sections 3/4 of the Prohibition (Hudood) Ordinance.
Tando Jam Police Station
SHO Inspector Ayaz Ali Baghio and his team arrested a female drug supplier, Zar Bano, during patrol duty. Police recovered 1.262 kilograms of hashish from her possession.
In the same operation, another suspect, Sabir Baloch, was arrested with 820 grams of hashish.
Separate cases were registered against the suspects under the Narcotics Act. Zar Bano was booked in Crime No. 176/2026 under Section 9(1)3(C), while Sabir Baloch was booked in Crime No. 177/2026 under Section 9(1)3(B).
Site Police Station
SHO Sub-Inspector Shaukat Ali Malokhani and his team arrested Sher Muhammad alias Shero, a suspect wanted by police, during patrol duty.
Police recovered 200 Mainpuri packets from his possession and registered Crime No. 109/2026 under Section 8 of the Gutka and Mainpuri Act.
Fort Police Station
SHO Inspector Syed Faiz Ali Shah led another operation in which police arrested Nauman Sheikh.
Police recovered six bottles of liquor from his possession and registered Crime No. 92/2026 under Sections 3/4 of the Prohibition (Hudood) Ordinance.
Budhani Police Station
SHO Sub-Inspector Ibrahim Buzdar and his team arrested Saleem Mallah, an alleged liquor supplier, during patrol duty.
Two of his accomplices managed to escape from the scene.
Police recovered a total of 15 litres of locally brewed liquor from the arrested and absconding suspects. A case (Crime No. 32/2026) was registered under Sections 3/4 of the Prohibition (Hudood) Ordinance.
Hyderabad Police said further investigations are underway and operations against criminal elements, narcotics dealers, and illegal Gutka and Mainpuri suppliers will continue across the district.
