SUKKUR: SSP Sukkur Azhar Khan chaired an important meeting to review security arrangements for the Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA), with a focus on ensuring peace and maintaining law and order during the religious observance.
The meeting was attended by Shia scholars, permit holders, and senior police officers, who discussed comprehensive security measures for mourning processions and religious gatherings.
Participants reviewed security plans for Majalis and processions, including the deployment of police personnel, traffic management, procession routes, security at Imambargahs, and precautionary measures to address potential security threats.
During the meeting, suggestions and recommendations presented by the religious scholars and permit holders were carefully considered. SSP Azhar Khan issued necessary instructions to the relevant officers for the implementation of approved measures to ensure smooth arrangements.
Addressing the participants, the SSP assured them that Sukkur Police would utilise all available resources to provide foolproof security during the Chehlum. He said every possible step would be taken to protect the lives and property of mourners and to ensure that all religious activities are conducted in a peaceful environment.
The meeting also highlighted the importance of close coordination between the police, religious leaders, and event organisers to maintain harmony and respond effectively to any emergency situation.
On the occasion, the religious scholars and permit holders presented a shield of appreciation to SSP Sukkur Azhar Khan in recognition of the effective, organised, and comprehensive security arrangements made by Sukkur Police during Muharram-ul-Haram. They praised the police force for its professionalism and dedication in maintaining peace throughout the holy month.
Before the meeting began, participants offered special prayers for the late SSP Special Branch Mansoor Mughal, praying for the forgiveness of his sins and for the elevation of his ranks in the hereafter.
The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment from the police and community representatives to work together to ensure peaceful observance of the Chehlum through effective coordination, vigilance, and timely implementation of security measures.
