Lahore: Lahore Qalandars have released Abdullah Shafique from their squad for the Global Super League (GSL), with Bangladesh batter Shamim Hossain named as his replacement.

Abdullah Shafique had been representing Lahore Qalandars in the tournament and played his final match for the franchise in Guyana before departing to join Pakistan’s Test squad.

He is now set to travel to Trinidad and Tobago, where he will link up with the Pakistan Test team ahead of their upcoming assignment.

In his final appearance for Lahore Qalandars, Shafique scored 21 runs off 13 balls against the Guyana Amazon Warriors.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has included Abdullah Shafique in the Test squad as a replacement for the injured Abdullah Fazal.

His release from the Global Super League allows him to join the national side as Pakistan continue preparations for their upcoming Test fixtures.
