Islamabad: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast rain accompanied by strong winds and thunderstorms in several parts of the country today, including Sindh, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

According to the PMD, heavy rainfall is expected in parts of Tharparkar, Umerkot, Mirpurkhas and surrounding areas of Sindh. The department has warned that intense downpours may occur in these districts, urging residents to remain cautious during adverse weather conditions.

In Karachi, the weather office has predicted the possibility of light rain or drizzle during the day, which could provide temporary relief from warm and humid conditions.

The PMD has also forecast heavy rainfall in Dera Ghazi Khan and north-eastern Balochistan, where there is a risk of flash flooding in local streams and seasonal waterways due to intense precipitation.

Authorities have advised the public, particularly those living in low-lying and flood-prone areas, to stay updated with official weather advisories and take necessary precautions to avoid potential risks associated with heavy rain, strong winds and flash floods.

The latest forecast comes as Pakistan continues to experience the ongoing monsoon season, with intermittent rainfall affecting different parts of the country and increasing the possibility of urban flooding and overflowing streams in vulnerable regions.
