MUMBAI: Veteran Indian television and film actress Apara Mehta has spoken publicly about her long-standing separation from actor Darshan Jariwala, revealing the emotional conversation that led to the end of their marriage.
According to Indian media reports, Mehta, best known for her role in the popular television drama “Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi,” shared details of her personal life during a recent interview.
The actress recalled that she was in the United States for a professional engagement when she called her husband on their wedding anniversary. During the conversation, Jariwala reportedly told her that he wanted to discuss something important once she returned to India.
After arriving back home, Mehta said her husband informed her that he no longer wished to continue their marriage.
According to the actress, Jariwala told her that he no longer loved her, did not like her anymore, and wanted them to separate. She further claimed that he told her she was “the ugliest woman” he had ever met in his life.
Reflecting on the moment, Mehta said she struggled to process what she had heard because she had just returned from an international flight and immediately resumed work.
“I had reached India at around 5 a.m. after returning from the US and went straight to my shooting schedule,” she recalled. “During breaks, I kept feeling sleepy. Once I recovered from the exhaustion, I began thinking about what Darshan had said. I couldn’t believe he actually meant those words.”
The actress said that, in time, Jariwala moved out of their home, bringing an end to their life together as a couple.
Despite the separation, Mehta revealed that the two have maintained a cordial relationship over the years.
She said the doors of her home remain open for her estranged husband if he ever chooses to return, although she acknowledged that such a reunion is unlikely.
“I know he may never come back,” she said. “But I firmly believe that he will never find someone like me, and I will never find someone like him.”
Mehta’s candid remarks have attracted attention on social media, with many fans expressing sympathy and appreciation for her openness about the emotional challenges she faced.
