Sukkur (Bureau Report): Residents have called on the authorities to take action against a number of alleged illegal fuel outlets operating along both sides of the Rohri Bypass on the National Highway, claiming the businesses are openly buying and selling petrol and diesel without proper authorisation.

According to local residents, the outlets are allegedly purchasing petrol and diesel at discounted rates from both government and private vehicles before reselling the fuel for profit. They warned that such activities not only result in losses to the national exchequer but also pose serious fire and safety risks to motorists and nearby communities.

Sources said that large quantities of petrol and diesel are reportedly traded daily at several locations along the bypass. The fuel is allegedly bought at lower prices and later sold openly at higher rates.

Residents also questioned the effectiveness of the relevant authorities, claiming that no meaningful action has been taken against the alleged illegal operations. Some citizens further alleged that police have remained inactive due to the alleged receipt of monthly bribes. However, these allegations could not be independently verified.

Residents and representatives of civil society have urged the DIG Sukkur, SSP Sukkur, the district administration, Civil Defence, and other relevant authorities to conduct a transparent investigation into the alleged illegal fuel outlets and take legal action where violations are established. They also called for action against any officials found responsible for negligence or collusion, if supported by evidence.
