Karachi: A motorcycle rider was arrested in an injured condition following an alleged armed encounter with police near China Port in Karachi’s Boat Basin area, according to District South Police.
Police said officers from Boat Basin Police Station were on routine patrol when they signalled a motorcyclist to stop for questioning.
According to the police statement, the suspect allegedly opened fire upon seeing the officers, prompting police to retaliate.
Following the exchange of fire, the suspect was apprehended in an injured condition.
Police identified the arrested suspect as Asif Qureshi, son of Munawar.
Officers said they recovered a 30-bore pistol with ammunition and a motorcycle from the suspect’s possession.
The injured suspect was immediately shifted to a hospital for medical treatment.
District South Police said the suspect’s previous criminal record is being verified, while further legal proceedings are underway.
