Karachi: Police arrested two motorcycle-riding suspects following an alleged armed encounter near the Sindh Secretariat in Karachi’s Aram Bagh area, according to a statement issued by District South Police.
Police said officers from Aram Bagh Police Station signalled two men riding a motorcycle to stop during routine checking.
According to the police statement, the suspects allegedly opened fire instead of complying with the order, prompting officers to return fire.
As a result of the exchange, one suspect was arrested in an injured condition, while the second was taken into custody unharmed.
Police identified the injured suspect as Saleemuddin, son of Faheemuddin, while the second suspect was identified as Mushtaq, son of Tawa.
Officers said they recovered two 30-bore pistols with ammunition and one motorcycle from the suspects’ possession.
The injured suspect was shifted to hospital for medical treatment, while the other suspect was taken to the police station for further investigation.
According to District South Police, authorities are verifying the suspects’ previous criminal records, and further legal proceedings are underway.
