Sukkur: A woman staged a protest outside the Sukkur Press Club, alleging domestic violence, harassment, and the forced separation from her four children by her husband. She also accused her own sister of influencing her husband’s actions and appealed to the authorities for justice and protection.
The protester, Saima, wife of Raza Muhammad Mahar and a resident of Somar Village, Khuhri, Sukkur District, urged senior government officials to intervene and ensure her safety as well as the recovery of her children.
Speaking to journalists, Saima alleged that on the morning of 25 July 2026, her husband returned home and physically assaulted her before ordering her to leave the house.
She said neighbours gathered after hearing the commotion and attempted to defuse the situation. According to Saima, her husband also publicly declared in front of local residents that he no longer wished to keep her in his home.
Saima further alleged that her husband assaulted her again before pronouncing divorce in front of others and forcing her to leave the house. She claimed that he kept custody of their four children against her will, leaving her distressed and concerned for their welfare.
The woman also accused her husband of acting at the behest of her biological sister, Saba.
According to Saima, her husband does not provide household expenses and frequently spends nights at her sister’s residence, where he allegedly spends his income. She claimed that whenever she objected to his behaviour, she was subjected to physical abuse, harassment, and mistreatment.
During the protest, Saima appealed to the police, district administration, and other relevant authorities to:
- Ensure the immediate recovery and return of her four children.
- Conduct a transparent investigation into her allegations of domestic violence and other claims.
- Take legal action against those found responsible.
- Provide protection for her and her children.
The allegations have been made by the complainant and have not been independently verified. No response from the husband or the individuals named in the allegations was immediately available at the time of reporting. Authorities have not yet publicly commented on the matter.
