Mirpur: Election authorities have begun distributing polling materials ahead of the first phase of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Legislative Assembly elections, which are scheduled to take place tomorrow in Mirpur Division.
Polling will be held in 13 constituencies across the three districts of Mirpur, Kotli, and Bhimber as part of the first phase of the AJK elections.
Officials said the process of delivering election materials is underway, with Returning Officers handing over ballot papers and other polling equipment to Presiding Officers, who will transport them to their respective polling stations.
Preparations are being finalised to ensure polling stations are fully equipped before voting begins.
Meanwhile, Chief Election Commissioner of Azad Kashmir, Justice (Retired) Ghulam Mustafa Mughal, said comprehensive security arrangements have been put in place at polling stations to ensure a peaceful and orderly voting process.
He warned that anyone attempting to disrupt polling or interfere with the electoral process would face legal action in accordance with election laws.
The Chief Election Commissioner also urged citizens to participate actively in the democratic process by casting their votes.
“I encourage the public to come out and elect the representatives of their choice. Exercising the right to vote is the foundation of a strong democracy,” he said.
Authorities have expressed confidence that all logistical and security arrangements will be completed on time to facilitate smooth polling across the 13 constituencies.
The first phase of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly elections will determine representatives from Mirpur Division, with election officials urging voters to observe the law and cooperate with polling staff to ensure free, fair, and peaceful elections.
