LAHORE: A high-level flood has reached Head Qadirabad on the River Chenab, following similar flood conditions at Head Marala and Head Khanki, according to the Flood Forecasting Division (FFD) Lahore.
The FFD reported that the water inflow at Head Qadirabad has risen to 236,000 cusecs, placing the barrage in the high flood category.
Meanwhile, the River Ravi is experiencing a medium-level flood at Head Balloki, where the water flow has increased to 73,635 cusecs.
The department also said that a low-level flood continues at Nowshera on the River Kabul, while Kalabagh and Chashma Barrage on the River Indus are also experiencing low flood conditions.
In Balochistan, a high-level flood has been reported in the River Lehri at Head Gogi in Sibi Division, where the water discharge has been recorded at 95,913 cusecs.
Separately, rescue officials confirmed that all five people stranded in the River Chenab in Sialkot have been safely rescued.
According to Rescue authorities, the five individuals had gone to the river for work, but their boat developed a fault while they were returning, leaving them stranded before they were successfully rescued.
The latest flood situation comes after India released a large volume of water into Pakistan following heavy rainfall in Indian-administered Kashmir.
Following the upstream water release, Pakistani authorities have warned of the possibility of major flooding along the River Chenab. As a precaution, a high alert has been issued in the Sialkot and Wazirabad regions, where district administrations and emergency response agencies have been directed to remain on standby and closely monitor the evolving flood situation.
Authorities have urged residents living in low-lying and riverbank areas to stay informed through official advisories and follow evacuation instructions if necessary, as water levels may continue to rise depending on upstream inflows and weather conditions.
