SUKKUR: Lawyers affiliated with the Session Court Bar Association Sukkur staged a strong protest against the non-arrest of the killers of junior lawyer Saddam Hussain Lashari, the alleged robbery of around 60 head of cattle, and the reported kidnapping of two individuals.
Speaking to the media during the demonstration, Advocate Qurban Kalwar, Advocate Agha Soorat Pathan, Advocate Ali Akbar Mahar, and Advocate Ali Haider Shah, along with other members of the legal fraternity, said that junior advocate Saddam Hussain Lashari was shot dead in Saeedabad several months ago. They added that the murder case is currently under trial.
The lawyers alleged that armed men later attacked Village Hussain near Saeedabad in retaliation for the complainant’s refusal to withdraw from pursuing the case. During the attack, the assailants allegedly looted approximately 60 cattle and abducted two young men.
They further claimed that members of the complainant’s family have continued to receive serious threats, despite informing the police about the incidents.
Expressing concern over what they described as police inaction, the protesting lawyers said that no effective measures have been taken so far.
The lawyers demanded that the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sindh, DIG Sukkur, and SSP Sukkur immediately ensure the arrest of those responsible for the murder of the lawyer, secure the safe recovery of the two abducted individuals, and facilitate the return of the allegedly stolen cattle.
They warned that if their demands are not met, the legal community will expand its protest campaign and may also block the Sukkur Bypass as part of future demonstrations.
