After Pakistan Army’s Strong Response in Spin Boldak, Afghan Taliban Request Ceasefire

Spin Boldak — Following a powerful counteroffensive by the Pakistan Army in the Spin Boldak–Chaman sector, the Afghan Taliban have requested a ceasefire, signaling a temporary pause in cross-border hostilities.

According to security officials, the Pakistan Army’s swift and decisive military action effectively neutralized multiple militant positions and forced Taliban fighters to retreat from their forward posts. The operation came in response to a series of cross-border attacks launched earlier by the Afghan Taliban and the militant group Fitan al-Khawarij, which were successfully repelled by Pakistani forces.

Taliban Request Ceasefire

Military sources confirmed that following heavy losses in personnel and infrastructure, Afghan Taliban representatives approached Pakistani border authorities seeking an immediate ceasefire and de-escalation.
Officials noted that Pakistan’s stance remains firm: any violation of its territorial integrity will be met with full force, but the country continues to favor peace and regional stability.

“Pakistan does not seek confrontation but will defend every inch of its soil,” a senior security official stated, emphasizing that any dialogue must be based on respect for sovereignty and non-aggression.

Propaganda Videos Rejected as False

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) strongly rejected propaganda videos circulating on social media, allegedly released by Taliban-linked accounts, describing them as fabricated and baseless.

“The videos being circulated by the Afghan Taliban and Fitan al-Khawarij are entirely false and aimed at misleading the public,” the ISPR clarified.
“No Pakistani military installation or personnel suffered losses in the operation.”

The ISPR further noted that Pakistan’s retaliatory strikes were precise and intelligence-based, targeting only militant hideouts, and avoiding civilian areas to prevent collateral damage.

Background: Recent Escalation at the Border

The ceasefire request comes a day after intense clashes in the Spin Boldak region, where Pakistan Army forces repelled four separate assaults from across the border. At least 20 Taliban militants were reportedly killed in the firefight, while several others sustained injuries.

Tensions between the two sides have escalated in recent months due to increased cross-border militant incursions, prompting Pakistan to enhance border surveillance and defensive deployments across the Chaman–Spin Boldak frontier.

Commitment to Stability

The Pakistan Army reiterated that its operations are defensive in nature and aimed at eliminating terrorist threats that jeopardize peace and security in border regions.

“Pakistan remains committed to peace along the western frontier but will not tolerate acts of aggression or terrorism,” the ISPR reiterated.

Analysts believe the Taliban’s call for a ceasefire reflects the growing pressure on Kabul’s administration to prevent further escalation with Islamabad, as both sides face mounting challenges in managing their shared border and controlling non-state militant actors.
