ISLAMABAD: Federal ministers have strongly criticized remarks attributed to Noreen Niazi, the sister of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, describing the comments as irresponsible and against the country’s national interests.
According to the government’s response, Minister of State Talal Chaudhry said that the PTI founder and his family were pursuing actions that, in his view, were harmful to Pakistan. He claimed that Noreen Niazi’s statement demonstrated what he described as efforts directed against the country rather than solely against state institutions.
The controversy emerged after Noreen Niazi reportedly made a controversial statement regarding “Marka-e-Haq” and the Pakistan Army, prompting criticism from members of the federal government.
Reacting to the remarks, Federal Minister Tariq Fazal Chaudhry said that the PTI founder and members of his family “do not miss any opportunity to make statements against Pakistan.” He described Noreen Niazi’s comments as regrettable and condemnable, arguing that they were contrary to Pakistan’s integrity, dignity, and national prestige.
Tariq Fazal Chaudhry further stated that the entire nation condemned the remarks and emphasized the need for responsible public discourse on matters relating to national institutions and security.
Speaking separately, Talal Chaudhry reiterated his criticism, alleging that the objectives of the PTI founder and his family were aimed at damaging Pakistan. Referring to Noreen Niazi’s statement, he claimed it showed that their actions were directed against the country itself and not merely against state institutions.
Meanwhile, Minister of State for Overseas Pakistanis Aoun Chaudhry also condemned the remarks and called on Noreen Niazi to apologize to the nation. He described the statement as unfortunate, irresponsible, and against the national interest.
Aoun Chaudhry further alleged that elements within PTI posed a serious threat to the country, while urging political leaders to avoid statements that could deepen divisions or undermine national unity.
The ministers’ comments add to the continuing political tensions between the federal government and PTI, with both sides frequently exchanging criticism over political developments and national issues.
At the time of the statements, no response from PTI or Noreen Niazi regarding the ministers’ allegations was included in the official account.
