DASU: A 22-year-old woman and a police officer were killed in separate attacks in Dasu, the headquarters of Upper Kohistan district, in what police say was a case allegedly motivated by suspicion over their relationship.
According to police, the woman’s family suspected that she and the police officer were involved in a relationship.
Investigators allege that the woman was shot dead by a group that included her husband, father, and brother, along with other relatives.
Police further stated that the police officer was allegedly lured to a location, where he was assaulted and later killed with a sharp-edged weapon.
Officials said the deceased police officer had married only a few days earlier.
According to police, although the officer’s family chose not to pursue the case, authorities have registered a First Information Report (FIR) on the state’s behalf against seven suspects and launched an investigation.
The allegations are based on the initial police investigation, and the accused are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
