KARACHI: Pakistani actress Sanam Jung has expressed frustration after receiving six traffic e-challans within a month, claiming that some of the fines were issued for violations she did not commit.
In a video shared on Instagram, the actress spoke about repeatedly receiving electronic traffic challans in Karachi and said the situation had left her both confused and concerned.
Sanam Jung said she has been in Pakistan for about one month and during that period had received six separate traffic fines.
She acknowledged that the first challan, issued for using a mobile phone while driving, was justified.
“I was talking on the phone, and it was clearly visible in the video, so that fine was valid,” she said.
However, she claimed that several of the subsequent fines were issued for offences she insists she did not commit, including driving without wearing a seat belt.
The actress said she always wears a seat belt, explaining that living abroad has made it a habit to fasten it before starting her car.
“I don’t understand what’s happening. I’m being fined for things I didn’t do,” she said, adding that the repeated penalties have also led to criticism from her family.
Sanam Jung noted that her father has become particularly upset over the repeated challans, saying she is not only dealing with the fines but also facing questions at home over the alleged traffic violations.
Her comments have sparked discussion on social media about the accuracy of electronic traffic enforcement systems and the need for motorists to have accessible mechanisms to challenge fines they believe were issued in error.
