Jakarta: The death toll from last week’s collapse of a boarding Islamic school building in Indonesia has risen to 54 after more bodies were recovered from the debris.
The tragic incident occurred in Sidoarjo city, located on the island of Java. Rescue operations, which began immediately after the collapse, are now reported to be 90 percent complete. Authorities have confirmed the deaths of 54 individuals trapped beneath the rubble.
According to international news agencies, at least 13 people are still believed to be buried under the collapsed structure, and search and rescue teams continue their efforts to locate them.
