Lahore: A surprising revelation has emerged at the University of the Punjab after a poultry setup was reportedly found within the Department of Electrical Engineering.

According to the university spokesperson, the department’s director, Dr. Kamran, had been keeping chickens inside the department premises. The matter came to light after a video surfaced on social media, following which the birds were reportedly removed from the department late at night.

The spokesperson said that when the university’s security management questioned Dr. Kamran about the matter, he declined to provide details. The university administration has since issued a notice seeking an explanation from him, stating that no prior permission had been obtained to keep poultry or birds within the department.

Responding to the allegations in a conversation with Geo News, Dr. Kamran denied that the setup was a poultry farm. He explained that a separate area had been developed within the department for female students and that a few animals and birds had been kept there purely for decorative and aesthetic purposes to enhance the environment.

The incident has sparked discussion on social media, with many questioning whether keeping animals or birds inside an academic department complies with university regulations. The university administration is expected to review Dr. Kamran’s explanation before deciding on any further action.
