SANGHAR: A woman from Sanghar has stated that she embraced Islam of her own free will and later married a man of her choice, while also appealing to the authorities for protection after alleging that she and her husband have received threats.

According to local reports, the woman, formerly identified as Shanti, daughter of Shahnawaz, said she voluntarily accepted Islam and adopted the Islamic name Sameera.

Speaking to the media, Sameera said she married Intizar Hussain, son of Khan Muhammad, a resident of Moro in Naushahro Feroze district, through a court process in Karachi. She maintained that both her conversion and marriage were made with her free consent and without any coercion, pressure, or inducement.

She further stated that her marriage was solemnized in accordance with Islamic principles and rejected allegations that she had been abducted, insisting that she had made the decision independently.

Sameera also alleged that after her family learned of her conversion and marriage, she and her husband began facing threats. She claimed that because of the situation, they fear for their safety and well-being.

She appealed to the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Naushahro Feroze to provide legal protection to her and her husband so they could live safely.

The allegations made by Sameera have not been independently verified, and no official statement from the police or other authorities regarding the claims was available at the time of reporting. Authorities are expected to examine the matter in accordance with the law.
