The Azad Jammu and Kashmir government on Monday unveiled the budget with a total outlay of Rs286 billion, while allocating a total of Rs250 billion for non-development, while development expenditure is estimated at Rs36 billion while salaries and pensions have been raised by seven percent,
Finance Minister Chaudhry Qasim Majeed presented the budget in the legislative assembly.
For development expenditure, Rs 900 million will be allocated for agriculture and livestock, Rs100 million for civil defence disaster management, Rs190 million for development institutions, and Rs3 billion for education.
For development expenditure, Rs3 billion will be allocated for local government and rural development, Rs1 billion for physical planning and housing.
Rs3 billion for energy and water resources, Rs14 billion for communication and construction. In the new fiscal year budget of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, it is proposed to allocate 31 percent for social, 12 percent for productive and 57 percent for infrastructure sectors.
Education Package 2026 has also been made part of the budget. Under the package, the total cost of elementary and secondary education will be kept at Rs297 billion.
