Sukkur (Danish Rajput): Sukkur Police have successfully exposed an inter-provincial mobile phone theft gang, arresting four key suspects and recovering 16 stolen mobile phones during a targeted operation.
In recognition of the successful action, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Sukkur Azhar Khan awarded the entire police team of A-Section Police Station Sukkur with CC-III commendation certificates along with cash rewards.
According to police officials, the awards were granted in light of the recommendation submitted by ASP/SDPO City Sukkur through recommendation letter No. 2959 dated June 16, 2026, acknowledging the officers’ outstanding professional performance.
Four Suspects Arrested
Police stated that on June 11, 2026, a team led by SHO A-Section Sukkur Ahmed Ali Shar conducted a successful operation against a mobile phone theft network.
During the raid, police arrested four alleged members of the gang:
- Muhammad Suleman Pathan
- Ahmer Qureshi
- Abdul Samad Shar
- Sultan Shar
Authorities also recovered 16 stolen mobile phones from their possession.
IMEI Numbers Allegedly Altered
According to investigators, the suspects were involved in stealing mobile phones and subsequently changing their IMEI numbers before selling the devices in different regions.
Police believe the gang was operating across provincial boundaries and had developed a method to disguise the identity of stolen phones to avoid detection.
A criminal case has been registered against the accused under FIR No. 184/2026 at A-Section Police Station Sukkur under Sections 413, 379, 411, 120-B, and 34 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC).

SSP Sukkur Azhar Khan praised the efforts of SHO Ahmed Ali Shar and the entire team involved in the operation, describing the action as an example of effective policing and teamwork.

Speaking on the occasion, SSP Sukkur reiterated the police department’s commitment to combating criminal activities and maintaining law and order.
He stated that operations against criminal networks, including theft gangs and other organized offenders, would continue with greater effectiveness and determination.
“Action against criminal elements will continue in a more effective manner, and officers demonstrating exceptional performance will be encouraged and recognized,” the SSP said.
The successful operation is being viewed as a significant achievement for Sukkur Police, particularly in efforts to curb mobile phone theft and the illegal trade of stolen electronic devices across different regions of the country.
