Peshawar: Police in Khyber District have rescued a French woman and her four children after receiving reports that she was allegedly being subjected to domestic abuse in the Bara area of Khyber.

According to CCPO Dr. Mian Saeed, Khyber Police conducted a raid on a residence on June 18 following information that a foreign woman was allegedly being mistreated and subjected to violence inside the home.

Woman Living in Bara Since 2014

Police said the woman, a 54-year-old French national, had married a Pakistani citizen and had been residing in Bara since 2014.

According to preliminary investigations, she allegedly faced mistreatment from her husband and was reportedly not allowed to leave the house freely.

Officials stated that after the raid, the woman and her four children were taken into protective custody and transferred to Peshawar to ensure their safety and welfare.

Desire to Return to France

The rescued woman has reportedly expressed a desire to return to France.

Authorities said efforts are underway to coordinate with relevant institutions regarding her case. The Foreign Office has been informed, and an official communication has been sent to the French Embassy through diplomatic channels.

Legal Action Initiated

Police have also registered a case against the woman’s husband in connection with the allegations.

Investigators are continuing to gather evidence and record statements as part of the ongoing inquiry. Officials said further legal action will be taken in accordance with the findings of the investigation.
