Hyderabad, June 20, 2026: Acting on the directives of DIG Hyderabad Range and SSP Hyderabad Shahzeb Chachar, Hyderabad Police have intensified operations against gambling, “akra parchi,” and other social evils across the city. In separate actions conducted by Market and Baldia police stations, a total of 12 suspects were arrested and cases were registered.
Market Police Station Action
According to details, SHO Market Police Station Inspector Nek Muhammad Khoso, along with his team, conducted a targeted operation near Amil Colony Katchi Abadi, Kali Mori, following a tip-off regarding illegal gambling activities.
During the raid, police arrested eight individuals while they were allegedly involved in gambling activities. The arrested suspects were identified as Wajid Ali Qureshi, Sohail Qureshi, Muhammad Hasher Qureshi, Muhammad Ajmal, Bilal Qureshi, Muhammad Arslan Qureshi, Abid Qureshi, and Muhammad Aamir Qureshi.
Police recovered cash placed on stake, gambling slips (akra parchi), and playing cards from their possession, which were taken into custody as evidence. A case has been registered against the accused under Crime No. 207/2026, under Section 5A of the Gambling Act and Section 294-B of the Pakistan Penal Code.
Baldia Police Station Action
In another operation, SHO Baldia Police Station Sub-Inspector Muzaffar Khaldi and his team, acting on a separate tip-off, raided an area near Harr Camp and arrested four individuals involved in gambling activities.
The arrested suspects were identified as Kashif Bagri, Nisar Bagri, Abid Bagri, and Wali Bagri. Police also recovered cash and gambling materials (akra parchi slips) from their possession.
A case has been registered against the accused under Crime No. 109/2026 under Section 5A of the Gambling Act.
Ongoing Crackdown
Police officials stated that operations against gambling dens and other illegal activities are continuing across Hyderabad, and further arrests are expected as part of an ongoing crackdown on social crimes.
A spokesperson for Hyderabad District Police said that strict action will continue against all elements involved in illegal gambling and activities that disrupt public order.
