Islamabad: A district and sessions court in Islamabad has cancelled the arrest warrants issued against former Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Ali Amin Gandapur, in the audio leak case.

The case was heard by District and Sessions Judge Javaid Iqbal Sapra, who reviewed the matter related to the previously issued non-bailable warrants.

Defence Arguments Presented in Court

During the hearing, the defence counsel argued that the arrest warrants were issued after the accused failed to appear in court on a single date. The lawyer stated that Ali Amin Gandapur had now appeared before the court and surrendered himself to its jurisdiction.

The defence further requested the court to revoke the warrants, emphasizing that the same court that issues warrants also has the authority to withdraw them.

“The accused has appeared before the court and is now at its mercy,” the defence counsel reportedly stated.

Court Cancels Warrants

After hearing the arguments, the court accepted the request and cancelled the arrest warrants issued against Ali Amin Gandapur in the audio leak case.

The judge also adjourned further proceedings in the case until July 15.

Case Background

The case pertains to an alleged audio leak involving the former chief minister, in which legal proceedings had been initiated earlier. Warrants were issued after his absence from a previous hearing.

With the latest development, the court proceedings will now continue in the normal course during the next scheduled hearing.

Conclusion

The cancellation of arrest warrants marks a significant procedural development in the ongoing audio leak case. The matter will proceed further when the court resumes hearings next month, as legal arguments continue on the merits of the case.
